Still the Best Game You Can Carry in Your Pocket

Everyone seems to focus on more trendy games now and days. If you’re looking for a budget friendly game that you can play repeatedly, you truly cannot go wrong with a standard deck of playing cards (take it from someone who owns at least 4 different decks). There are game options for almost every age range you can imagine.

1.      Go Fish

·       Will always be a solid game for the kids in the group.

2.     Old Maid

·       May be a little more complicated but still good.

3.     War

·       The child friendly game of chance.

4.     Crazy Eights

·       If you want something a bit more mentally stimulating in the children’s games category.

5.     Bullshit

·       Popular with middle schoolers, even if parents won’t admit it.

6.     Mao

·       Truly a game I despise. I am not a puzzle person, and this game confuses me every time. If you don’t know, the rules reset every day. When the day starts, the only rule is you cannot tell anyone else the rules. Every time a player wins a game, they add a rule without explaining it to anyone else.

7.     Solitaire

·       A good backup game in case you ever find yourself with down time or a group where nobody else wants to play.

8.     Blackjack

·       Will forever be a staple at any table I find myself at. I spent most of high school playing Blackjack and even gambled my way out of getting detention one day (not a recommendation)!

9.     Poker

·       Always a good option. There are so many variations and pretty much everyone has some idea how to play.

10.   Rummy

·       I know a lot of people hear Rummy and think it’s just an old people’s game, but it’s a pretty good game when you get it figured out.

Bonus: Rook

·        You remove a few cards and choose a trump color/suit and you’re good. Most standard decks of cards come with a joker that can be easily added to the deck to act as the Rook card.

Sometimes, the best option is the most simple. A standard deck of playing cards is honestly the best option to keep around a game table or to pack on trips. It’s versatile and convenient while still being able to hold your attention and create a fun time!
